A Tour of the Building

The Villa Besnus is quite simple if you study it closely. It has 3 floors which all contain different program. The first houses the garage, mechanical room and storage. The second includes the kitchen and living room. The third is comprised of the dressing room and master bedroom.

Although there are not many pictures of the interior, Le Corbusier did a few sketches of what it may look like. Here is one of the living room.

The exterior is fairly odd and ordinary. Some windows and doors do not line up with one another, which is an unordinary thing to see in the facade design of a house.

Exploring the Villa

The Villa Besnus was designed by the famous architect, Le Corbusier and built in 1923. It is located in Vaucresson near Paris, France. It was designed for a man named George Besnus who preferred a house similar to the Maison Citrohan which Le Corbusier had presented at the Salon de l'Automne where Besnus had first seen it. Soon after Besnus moved in, the house began to have many issues such as a leak in the basement due to a large crack in the foundation. The basic concept of the house is the studio bedroom which was intended to be the center of the house.
